Friday October 17th at Noon (est)

Every other week we encourage members, and those considering membership, to join us on a zoom call with their favorite beverage. It is our time to unwind, wrap up the week with friendly conversation, and get to know other Professional Chapter Members. Topics for discussion include everything from code questions to office policies, to architectural trends to which beverages we are partial to  – and everything in between.

Topic: Ethics in Building

Architects and others in the building industry, face some complex ethical issues that arise from the intersection of design, business, and social impact. For example, balancing a client desires with public welfare – this is where value engineering can cause a stress on one’s ethics.
Aesthetics vs. Functionality can also raise ethical questions. The ethical dilemma is whether to prioritize the artistic vision or the well-being and comfort of the building's occupants. What about Gentrification, inclusive public spaces and historical spaces? Then there is the environmental aspects: sustainable design and material sourcing.
Architect must maintain a high standard of professional integrity while being transparent with a conflict of interest as well as with their experience, skills and abilities.
Personal integrity is also important when it comes to billing, time estimates and cost estimates. Come speak with us about your ethical dilemmas. Join us as we discuss current and future ethical questions.

We are working on getting CEU's on these discussions.
